So there& #39;s a kernel in this tweet but it& #39;s completely missing context that explains why this is not a "disaster." NJ had a primary on July 7 with this certification I didn& #39;t see any indication this was a major issue. I& #39;ll try to explain. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1297152619526393856?s=20">https://twitter.com/realDonal...
First off, the November ballots have not yet been printed. So I can& #39;t say for sure whether they& #39;ll contain this certification. I didn& #39;t see anything in Murphy& #39;s executive order about it. But the primary ballots from July did. Here& #39;s the law.
BUT, primary voters were informed with their ballots that Murphy& #39;s executive order served as their applications. See here. https://twitter.com/mary_ment/status/1297348818879602688?s=20">https://twitter.com/mary_ment...
So voters were given information explaining this apparent discrepancy in certifying that they applied for a ballot they were automatically sent. Were some voters confused by it? Yes. I& #39;m told some contacted county clerks. How many? I don& #39;t know.
But there were no widespread reports of confusion. It was the second highest turnout for a New Jersey primary, and it went fairly smoothly. Vote counting was slow in some places. That was the biggest problem. But this barely registered, if at all.
