I shared an emotional video on Instagram about how I feel about an Asian owned boba tea company that stole my trap tea name and relaunched their business with it earlier this month.

Of course my attorney is on it, but I still wanna keep it 💯. https://twitter.com/ivysteaco/status/1293626264885047296
I posted the video and out of nowhere, all these Asian people came to the comments to tell me that Black people don’t own any ideas or concepts.

Moreover, they believe that tea originated in China.

Which is not true.
And one of saddest parts, the part that made me cry, is knowing that another Black woman went viral on Worldstar and Reddit because she questioned the boba shop about their motives and clear appropriation.

They’re saying the meanest things about her. I cried when I read it.
The attack was Spearheaded by Black men. One of whom is “friends” with one of the people who owns the boba company. The other says he’s the artistic director.

Both have enjoyed mocking the woman who went viral for calling the shop out and me, too.
My mom called to encourage me. And reminded me to stay strong.

And I cried some more because I told her that I want to live in a world where Black women don’t have to be strong and put together. We can be justifiably angry and just be.
