"you can't be that disabled if you can work full time"

You know what else I can do? Absolutely nothing. If I want to take a shower, I have to take a day off work. Sometimes my partner has to carry me from my desk to my bed. I can't stand long enough to fry an egg.
I have to chose every single day. Do I want to cook, or do I want to work? Do I want to shower or work? Sometimes I can't even eat food someone else has made if I've been working that day. Sometimes working one day means I can't even get out of bed to pee the next.
"so why work then?"

Because work is more essential than those things. How tf am I supposed to get the food to eat and water to wash with, any shelter at all, if I don't work? I could prioritise my base needs for a month maybe, but then the money runs out. And I would just die.
A lot of people don't get the reality of that. With the "how can you live like that, but what would you do if..." the answer is literally just that I would die. The reason that every disabled person you see somehow manages to make do despite it all is because the others are dead.
I don't want to work. But it was "do this or die" so... This is what I do. I work despite the fact that I can't work. If it wasn't for my lovely partner taking care of my base needs, working would have killed me just as fast as not working would.

Stop quizzing disabled people.
This is also why, surprise surprise, disabled people get abused more than any other group and why they are far more likely to stay in those abusive relationships. Because if my partner who I relied on to live turned around and hit me? It's still either that or probably just die.
None of y'all ableds have anywhere near the awareness of your own fragile mortality than literally any disabled person has.
