So, I love videogames. Above all other mediums, it is objectively by far the most entertaining and engrossing one, due to the sheer amount of input and information exchange between the videogame and the player.
I'd already done my 5x5 on them, 2 years earlier, as my pinned.

But that information is long since outdated. Additionally, I'd like to give people a more expanded picture of what i like and feel is a good and worthwhile experience. https://twitter.com/Galen_Fyonike/status/973647224268877824
To that end, I set out to create my lists of favorite games. I made one each for each of my 15 favorite consoles(including PC games), with an additional one for MMOs (technically PC games, but many are multiplatform, and I felt they're really their own category)
Of course, to prevent myself from spamming the same game over all the different platforms it's come out, or to only fill a single console with games from the same series, i set a couple of rules to my lists
1. One game per series on a console. This includes spinoffs/gaidens. No multiple FF entries, or SMT AND Personas, on the same console.

2. No posting the same game twice across consoles.
2.a) Exception: Remakes.
2.b) NOT an Exception: Games featured in bundles/collections
3. The lists need to be ordered, from the center outwards, as my most-to-least favorite games on the console. So, for reference a 5x5 would double as a 3x3 AND as a 1x1. The game on the center of the square is my most favorite of the bunch, followed by the 8 surrounding it, etc.
Having said that, lemme put an important Disclaimer here.

I have played most of these games, but some, i've yet to have the chance to, mostly due to lack of console.
Those games are still on my to-play list, tho, and i've played far more than enough similar games, and seen enough gameplay footage from them, to be able to form a solid opinion that won't change after experiencing them myself.
So, without further ado. Here's my top games per consoles:
01) Top 9 NES games
02) Top 9 SNES games
03) Top 9 N64 games
04) Top 9 Game Cube games
05) Top 9 Wii games
06) Top 9 Game Boy/Game Boy Color games
07) Top 9 3DS/2DS games
08) Top 9 PSP games
09) Top 9 MMOs
10) Top 25 Game Boy Advance games
11) Top 25 DS games
12) Top 25 PSX/One games
13) Top 25 PS2 games
14) Top 25 Switch games
15) Top 25 PS4 games
16) Top 49 PC games

(disclaimer: ok, used a PS4 image of XII there, but i chose to put it here due to mods allowing you to use custom made boards or create your own sets.)
in general, I due to many PC games being multiplat, I used a couple of criteria on whether to consider a game as a console game or a PC game.

Some of those are:
-It originally came out on PC
-It's not in any of the other consoles above
-It plays best with mouse and keyboard
-It benefits from modding support(especially gameplaywise)
And with that, let's examine what I consider my absolute top 49 games of all time, regardless* of consoles.

The rules are similar to the ones used above, but with a few addendums and modifications
1) Only ONE game per series(including gaidens/spinoffs)

2) One game from each console that had a top 9. Four games from a top 25. 6 games from PC. And the rest games must be multiplatform, AND be available on the PC
As such, perhaps it would be best to consider this following list more as my top 49 recommended videogame series, as represented by a particularly standout game in each.
However, only a few of those are not my absolute favorite of their respective represented series. I endeavored to put my absolute, no annotation favorite games from each series in the top 25 range, and that even holds true for most of the rest 24 games.
I do plan on continuing this thread, with a showcase of each game in my top 49. But that's for another day.
