The American Right has controlled the direction of this country for decades, has hastened this decline and national ruin, and is engaged in projecting the blame and rage for their own missteps and failures on nonexistent conspiracies, imagined traitors, and supernatural plots.

They are so inconsolably rageful because to stop and consider anything would mean toppling the undeniably brittle and false illusion they live under. They cannot listen because their position is so untenable, so laughably fake, that they can only rage and rage and rage.

We are a failing nation because of the Right’s demand for unending hegemony through military interventionism, because of their massive redistribution of wealth project and corporate/privatization worship, because of their poisonous adherence to white patriarchal dominance.

The American Right has destroyed this country’s ability to offer even so much as a modest support system for its people. No infrastructure, no education, no healthcare, no disaster or pandemic response. Nothing but brutal, trench warfare austerity. That’s it.

The American Right built a power base fortified on conspiracy theories, omnipresent threats, and myths of exceptionalism and meritocracy. Too many people knowing better either bought in or were too frightened to challenge it. That has to stop. Now.

We are in a national decline and this country is failing. It’s time to reject out of hand these angry, paranoid people who are only projecting their own guilt and complicity onto everyone else. We’re failing because they failed us. We have to change.

The Republican Party as a political body is a long-failed project that has become solely a fascistic, white-identity movement. They exist in an alternate reality where their own mistakes are to blame on paranoid fantasies and poisonous conspiracy theories.

This is, again, how fascism works. It is a death cult that reconstructs history to hide failures and reconstitute them as betrayals and plots that energize continued control. We are in it. Now. We must reconsider our last and find truth before it consumes us in totality.

The way out of this death spiral is simple. Get educated. Get angry. And get organized. We must understand the real history of how we got here, who was responsible, and what didn’t work. This flotsam is a myth of a country that never existed and it is eating us alive.

The trap is that we have been forced to argue with the Right within the invented framework and false myth of American Exceptionalism, which prevents actual reckoning with mistakes and imagining a better future. Learn the real history. There is a way out, but only through truth.
