I get there’s a narrative we need to tell, but erasing the work faculty are doing to provide quality online teaching during a pandemic is problematic for two reasons. Firstly, it tells our students that online is inherently less worthy, feeding into the “we should pay less” 1/
Narrative that is going to be hard to handle when we do eventually shift online. Secondly, it suggests that your faculty are selfish, layabouts who don’t want to do the hard work of teaching during a pandemic. This couldn’t be further from the truth. 2/
Celebrate your faculty, regardless of modality, for continuing to provide the expertise-driven teaching that attracts your students in the first place and which retains the students once they enroll. Finis.
