Yeah, finished the first pass of Previews and OOF!

INDIE CREATORS: I would *strongly* suggest looking for someone who does comics marketing professionally.

You are going to need a lot of help right now unless you're very clued in in those subjects. https://twitter.com/TheBigBang_/status/1297510488092418051
Customers are more wary than ever about pre-ordering items that are not from recognisable IPs, big name creators or publishers they trust.

And even then, just because you're with a decent publisher, it doesn't mean that you're sorted.

Don't. Stop. Selling.
CUSTOMERS: If you want to read an upcoming comic that might be coming from a smaller publisher, STRONGLY consider pre-ordering it.

Comic shops are under a lot of pressure and everyone is cutting orders as much as possible.
That comic might not make it to the shelf.
It's a matter of maths. We understand and respect the hard work that all creators put into their comics BUT we can only order what we think we'll actually sell.

And in a market that some might say is heavily saturated for the times being, a lot of stuff is going to get ignored.
And a lot of creators are, honestly, their own worst enemies.
We KNOW it's hard to get out there and sell your stuff, a lot of you aren't ready or even equipped for that.

But you HAVE TO!
Your publisher will help you (hopefully) but YOU need to look out for YOU.
Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook. Tinder (that is harder to sell comics, but...)

Get out there. Get the word out.

Share advance copies with other creators AND SPECIALLY WITH COMIC BOOK STORES!

We're the ones that buy your comics.
Sell them to US so we can sell them on.
We are always here with a word of advice and help whenever needed, but at some point there's only so much WE can do.

YOU need to take things on.
YOU need to look at a marketing plan for your comic.
YOU need to be 100% behind this and sell your comic like it's the best thing ever
And you know, I feel like we tweeted this similar spiel a thousand times.
And there's always someone out there that only reads it for the first time then.

This industry is a breeding ground of incredible new talent but there's a severe lack of marketing/selling lessons.
Everyone is so into MAKING a comic that they forget the part that they also have to SELL it.
We should honestly do some kind of Zoom thing for creators only. Charge you all for these lessons.

But we won't because we're saps.

We just want to see you all doing well because if you do well, WE do well.
But I'm seeing a lot of cool comics coming out down the pipeline and they have no buzz and no pre-orders.

There are comics coming out from creators at smaller publishers that by now we would have like 50 pre-orders and we have like 7.

That is worrying,
We're doing our best here to raise awareness of your comics, so you keep doing that on your side too, ok?

If you don't give up on your comics, we won't either, deal?
(and yes, we know how incredibly disheartening it feels sometimes to be tweeting about comics when the world is a mess and people are dying. But you got to push beyond that. This IS your job, don't stop doing it)
