10 Facebook Ads tips I wish I knew when I started

1) You MUST give Facebook time and money if you expect any type of results.

Way too many newcomers lose a few hundred and quit. I did this myself, and lost valuable time doing so

2) Only use 1 interest per Ad-set for cold targeting.

How are you supposed to know which interests are working if you have multiple interests in the same Ad-set?

Much easier to analyze data when you have objective proof.
3) Narrowing down your interests won't give Facebook a large enough pool to optimize from.

I recommend at LEAST 1 million + to even consider.

If you're doing stuff locally or more specific, this may not apply. But for E-Commerce, the larger the pool - the better.
4) Your creatives are THE defining variable.

You can have a fully optimized website, great copy, and an amazing product - but if your Ads suck, nobody will buy.

Spend more of your time creating good, engaging creatives.

If you don't know how - outsource.
5) Your goal for E-Commerce should ALWAYS be purchases.

Not Add To Cart.

Not View Content.

PURCHASES.

Optimizing for WCP from the get-go is the best way to set yourself up for success.

Don't start with anything else unless you have a specific situation that requires it.
6) Un-check the "expand interests" box at the Ad-set level.

Leaving this open will make it impossible to tell which interests are performing well, and which ones aren't.
7) If you're looking to increase budgets of your working Ad-sets, make sure you do it at midnight.

That way, Facebook will have the entire day to spend your allotted budget properly.
8) Do not change the budget of a working Ad-set until you have an immense amount of data to pull from.

Changing the budget will make Facebook pull from a different audience subsection.

Duplicate and increase the budget manually.
9) Know your marketing angle before starting.

Who is your target customer?

What are their pain-points and problems?

How are you positioning yourself to them?

BY FAR the most important part of your brand.
10) Your goal should be getting to the Purchase LAA level.

Start with View Content or Video Viewer LAA's, and work your way up.

Test as much as you can.

Never be complacent, or your competition will pass you up!
