My mom has a major in literature and was a school teacher for +25Y in Venezuela. We couldn't afford trips to other countries or expensive cars, but she had enough to sustain me and my sister when we were born in the 90's. https://twitter.com/CaracasChron/status/1296847280516009984
After a few years under Chavismo we barely had money for food and maybe to go to the movies once in a while. After she retired she had to wait +5Y to get her retirement payment, and by that time our currency was already so devaluated that all she got was 500 USD.
That's what 25Y of hard work were worth to the Chavismo. Some of her friends are still working as teachers in Venezuela, and they're all going through though times there.
PD: my mom just corrected me, she actually had to wait +7Y to get her retirement.
