Feels like some kind of cosmic-balance law at work where we try to escape worldly suffering through the sheer power of Human Ingenuity™ but not really because of the subsequent new, unintended side effects that in some way defeats the purpose of the initial enterprise
The law requires that pleasure and suffering always balances out
We have to pay our dues in exercise to pay for the running-around-in-the-jungle we circumvented.
We have to eat salads and weird nuts to pay for the unwarranted hedonism of high-octane fast food

Btw this is not a Unabomber-esque "The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race" take; I'm saying maybe none of it matters because life will always find a way to make you suffer
Possible counterpoint here: we definitely don't wanna go back and live like cavemen, but cavemen might find it appealing to live to 80, don't have to forage for food, and have air-conditioned rooms and soft beds
Also, It's even probably better to live as a middle-class citizen today than to be an ancient monarch (mostly bcs of medicine, obv). BUT it'd probably be more comfortable to live as, say, an ancient monarch rather than a homeless dude in a 21st-century metropolis.
So anyways my point is if the cosmic law is real, there's no way to justify that we deserve modern technological excesses, and Judgment Day is coming bring entropy back to world and reverse into our wretched efforts to "transcend"
Climate change is basically a case of, we ate too much fast food and have now become too morbidly obese to be saved by salads and regular exercise. And our aorta is clogged with gunk and it's only a matter of time before cardiac arrest kicks in
But we did manage to come up with liposuction. So I guess there's hope
Too many grammatical errors in this thread. Sori gara2 olahraga
