Having taken a political test properly, for the first time in my life, I’m now beginning to reconcile my position.

As a lifelong @UKLabour voter, until 2019 when I voted @brexitparty_uk, I’d always thought that I was best represented by Labour.
Before I took the political compass test, I completed the quiz that told me which Prime Minister I was closest to - and it came back as Churchill. So I guess the results of the compass test shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
I’ve always thought these tests were just a bit of fun. However, I believe that recent political events may have affected our beliefs more profoundly than we realise. Many of us vote tribally, without thinking about whether or not our votes are actually in line with our beliefs.
Given the outcome of GE2019, I firmly believe that there are likely to be many people, like me, who have always voted a certain way just because that’s what they’ve always done. With so many of us feeling politically homeless, it may be a good idea to reassess our positions.
Our politics doesn’t wholly define us, so there’s nothing to worry about here. But if we want our leadership to reflect who we are, then we need to be brave enough to discover ourselves first. The way we vote in the future will be crucial in the shaping of the UK’s future.
Take the test. Answer the questions seriously, but don’t get hung up on the outcome. Our views are often fluid and can change. So can our position on the political compass.
