Thread: Over the past few weeks a militant-turned-stenographer Bashir Ahmad Naik (Manzar), nom de guerre Waqas Gul has levelled allegations against Kashmiri journalists to slander the tribe and dishonour their work. We thought to put things in perspective and detail young 1/B
Kashmiris about Bashir Naik disguising as a journalist.
Bashir Naik was a spokesperson of Al-Jihad militant outfit in early 90's with nom de guerre Waqas Gul. He soon turned sides.
In 1993, Naik came to Srinagar & sought refuge in Greater Kashmir with Nayeem Khan’s influence 2/B
During his days in GK he made contacts with intelligence agencies. Days later he started weekly Kashmir Images from Jawahar Nagar. IB facilitated a meeting, through Naik and another infamous commander Syed Firdous Baba Nom De Gurre Baba Badar, of former militant commanders 3/B
with then Home Minister of India SB Chauhan.
During Chrar Shareef siege Naik sold information to IB Hqs at Gupkar for a bottle of whiskey. In Mid-1990's Naik, present manager of Kashmir Images and Firdous launched a so called initiative "Hope" at the behest of then RAW 4/B
chief AS Dulat. Seminar's were
held in Gulmarg and Jammu's Asia Hotel. This was purely a money minting exercise. Each Seminar would be billed 30 lacs.
In 2010 Naik with the help of then SP Ganderbal, a notorious mercenary, facilitated the protest of 4 year old kids from 5/B
Ganderbal in Srinagar for 23 lac rupees. Another protest with the help of Gujjar's was facilitated from Municipal Park to Ghanta Ghar. Against these two protests Govt of India gifted Naik a printing press. In 2016 a govt quarter was also allotted to Naik for his services 6/B
during the popular Burhan Wani uprising.
Naik has notoriously groomed several stenographers including Javaid Trali, Zeenat Zeeshan of Republic TV and several others. While SP Imtiyaz was posted in Baramulla, each day he would travel to Srinagar to drop in at Kashmir Images 7/B
office and the duo would share whiskey.
