Why Harry Maguire is one of the most disrespected players in the Premier League

Let’s start with why he’s disrespected. People don’t rate him because of how much he cost(not his fault), who he plays for and because he’s not very fast so 13 year olds who rate players off Fifa don’t like him.
Last season Manchester United had THE worst defensive record in the Top 10 conceding 54 goals and keeping just 7 clean sheets. Fast forward a year and with the acquisition of Maguire and Aaron Wan Bissaka United have the 4th most clean sheets with 13 and 3rd least goals conceded
Maguire won the 3rd most aerial battles for Defenders in the league behind James Tarkowski and Virgil Van Dijk. Maguire was also brought in as he is a very good ball playing CB and he’s shown that this year with the 2nd most passes completed for defenders behind Virgil Van Dijk
Maguire also ranked 4th in the league for interceptions. He ranks 4th for Progressive Ball Carrying Distance(8408m).
Maguire was a huge addition to the defence and helped Victor Lindelof hugely. With Maguire,Lindelof’s heading ability wasn’t exposed as much with Maguire covering for his weakness. Lindelof is still very suspect in the air and we won’t go anywhere until we sign a new CB
According to the Wyscout Index, which ranks players by position based on a set of parameters key to success their respective position, and also uses an algorithm to calculate their impact, Maguire was the 2nd best CB in the League in 19/20.
United are much more disciplined with Maguire too. Last season they gave away 6 penalties with this season they’ve given away half of that with only 3 penalties conceded, Maguire conceding 0 penalties
People who say Maguire isn’t a good captain are lying too. He’s played every single minute in the Premier League this season which was more minutes during 19/20 than any other footballer. This could explain his dip in form towards the end of the season and Maguire also played
when he was injured and took painkillers every week to continue playing.
United also have the most clean sheets in Europe(playing against weaker teams) which is a very impressive stat. Maguire definitely has aspects to improve but I’m sure he will be even better next season
