A thread on how I would line up Arsenal's midfield next season going off of our transfer targets and rumours.

First of all this thread will be based off us signing Partey, Aouar and Ceballos (either permanant or another loan). This could be quite a balanced midfield with Partey being a great defender and both Ceballos and Aouar being able to put in a shift defensively too

At the start of the season my midfield 3 would be Partey, Xhaka and either of Aouar or Ceballos. Its clear Arteta wants to use a 433 but has had to use a 4231 and 343 due to lack of personel. Partey has never played as a sole 6 before and always worked in a pivot dor Atletico

This was the same for Rodri at Man City and Arteta was the one who mainly worked on his positioning to become a lone CDM. Until he adjusts to the position I would play a lopsided 433/4231 hybrid which would allow him to adjust with a pivot while learning to play in a 3

If all goes to plan and Partey adjusts to a number 6 I would then shift to a 433 Aouar and Ceballos as Free 8s which could give us the creativity to break down defenses while also being defensively stable enough to play a midfield 3
