The same-sex marriage law draft in Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens is alarming. While we just filed an RTI to get hold of the copy, it is still alarming thinking about its origin.

The same sex marriage report prepared by government is outdated & problematic. It is written with godlification of third gender identity, erasure of binary trans folks & non-binary folks.

They use terms like hermaphrodite & transvestites. Plus the first many pages of the report is explanation of heterosexual marriage in a particular cultural and ritual setting.

Most of the legislation that emerged out of 2007 Landmark Sunil Babu Panta Vs. Gov of Nepal has proved to be deterimental for the queer community, conflating SOGIESEC, the Others gender thing, etc.

Plus the committee doing research on same-sex marriage itself wasn't inclusive ! #DrawbacksOf2007landmark
