As smoke fills the air & temperatures continue to soar, farm workers are working relentlessly to put food on our tables! I followed my dad & his friends (pictured) at their job today to get a better understanding of farm working conditions! Needless to say, I was shocked!

We need to protect our farm workers! Employers should be mandated to provide PPE to all the farm workers! Here’s a picture of my dad & his coworkers working without N-95s in the middle of a pandemic, wildfire season, and an unrelenting heat wave! #PPEforfarmworkers

All farm workers have a right to well-maintained toilet & hand-washing facilities! Yet, on my farm trip today, I noticed this was not always the case! Most employers do not provide portable toilets and if they do, there‘s limited supply of water & soap. #Toiletsforfarmworkers

These are the “break areas” for farm workers! There’s limited seating and the workers must walk to these “break areas” from different parts of the farm- that trip to and from this “break area” is included in the break time! #Increasebreaktimeforfarmworkers

Along with being back-breaking labor, farm work requires a skillset that many of us lack! The amount of teamwork, communication, & professionalism required for this job is unmatched. I saw workers use muscles that I haven’t used in this entire pandemic! #Thankyoufarmworkers

Here’s a picture of my dad & his co-workers! I was impressed how effectively they communicated with one another despite not speaking each other’s primary language. I learned that the hand gestures, the polite facial expressions, and understanding of shared-goals are the key!

My dad proudly showing me his “work place”. I can’t believe I used to ashamed (in high school and college) of telling people that my dad was a farm worker! He has always been my HERO and I am blessed to be his son! I can only hope to one day become half the man he is! ❤️

These are my HEROES! These are the farm workers! These are the immigrants! These are the dreamers! I am because they are! America is because they are! We must ensure that they’re kept safe and protected! #gratitude #protectthefarmworkers
