Hi, everyone! I’ve got some new followers, and I’m sure more are to come. So I’ve finally gotten around to this about me thread so you can be a bit more informed on my tweets or me, if you wanna be friends :)
• I’m 26, and from Eugene, OR. I spent ~10 years in Arizona, as well as brief stints in Iowa and Utah. I currently live near Portland, OR.
• I’m a Kinsey 5, and prefer to label my sexuality as ‘queer’. I’m non-binary, and use they/them pronouns.
• I work in healthcare support and also in customer service; I’m an active member of @SEIU and proud of it.
• I’m a child of two blind parents - one with partial vision and one completely/profoundly blind. I live with a high risk of glaucoma.
• My family’s roots are scattered - One side descends from Missouri, Kansas, and the Virginias, by way of Switzerland, Germany, and France. The other side descends from (upstate) NY, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Indiana by way of Quebec, France, Ireland, Wales, and Norway.
• I have a deep and profound interest in learning foreign languages. My native language is English, I’m currently mostly working on Spanish and German (Spanish is conversational, German’s almost there). I also have interests in Norwegian, French, Russian, and Welsh.
• I’m Episcopalian, which I have found through lots of searching through different churches and even religions. I previously was a practicing Jew and still feel homesick for it at points. I’m a very high church person, and use the term Catholic for myself frequently.
• I have a great love for reading, although I’ve found that has transitioned from paper books to audiobooks, for reasons I’ll later point out. I don’t have a favorite *anything* really, but I prefer realistic fiction as a genre in general. Nancy Drew has my heart.
• I live with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Fibromyalgia, Restless Leg Syndrome, Dysautonomia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and PTSD. I have casadastraphobia and thanatophobia - which is a fear of reversed gravity, and fear of dying, respectively.
• I’m a (most of the time) cane user, and a part time wheelchair user, which is mostly caused by the profound fatigue and dysautonomia I experience, more than anything else.
• I’m 100% sober as of July 1st, 2019.
• My upbringing in the PNW region of the US has heavily shaped basically every aspect of my life, and from living across the US, I know that our way of life there is significantly different. I proudly stand with the #CascadiaNow movement for an independent Cascadia.
• I generally live life through a lens of trying to be as optimistic as possible, although being firmly glued to realism I know there is a lot of work to be done. I’m involved in whatever social justice causes I can get my hands on, and do what I can given my limitations.
• This has already been far too much for the average user, so I’ll end it here. I’m an open book and anything that comes up or is asked of me subsequently, I’ll add to this thread. Much love ❤️
