i think it’s laughable when people mention “vocal range” because most don’t seem to understand that a literal scream can be counted towards someone’s vocal range, lol.

what matters to me is their *sustained* vocal range and their vocal agility. the timbre and tone.

brandy and monica both technically have a 3 octave range. monica is a contralto and brandy is a lyric/mezzo soprano.

so where it really starts to matter is technique, skill, timbre/resonance, tone, and agility. and that’s why brandy will always win.

monica’s tone is shaky, her vibrato is forced, her runs are messy, and her pitch takes most days off.

that’s not true for brandy.
