#SuperFansForSuperman

Let's do this. In order to celebrate Superman, I'm going to be counting down my top 10 favourite Superman artists. These are the artists that, in my opinion, capture everything great about the character : his strength, decency and optimism ! https://twitter.com/ProfofEvil/status/1297375353644519425
Honourable mentions : Des Taylor.

He hasn't worked on a proper Superman book, but his Superman art is charming as heck.
Honourable mentions : Ed Mcguiness. I know his art isn't to everyone's tastes, but I just love his take on Superman.
Honourable Mentions : Ivan Reis

His art is a little too close to the 'house style' of DC, but he is putting out some truly amazing art.
Onto the list proper

10. Brittany Williams

Another artist that hasn't worked on a Superman book proper, but her artwork best embodies just how FUN Superman can be. Seriously, just look at this :
9. Rags Morales.

An underrated Superman artist. Morales is great at potraying the physical aspect of the character. I don't know how to explain it, but you can SEE and FEEL Morales' Superman straining his muscles everytime he punches/flies/lifts something heavy.
8. Francis Manapul.

Nothing much to say here. His art is just so pretty.
7. Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.

His artwork was all over early 2000s Superman merchandise and so his Superman was the one I got to grow up with. He stands as the natural successor to Curt Swan but his artwork is much more romantic and adventurous.
6. Darwyn Cooke.

Is there any character that Cooke couldn't draw well ? The man was a legend.
5. Curt Swan.

You just cannot make a best Superman artists list without having Swan in there. Swan's Superman is just plain iconic, and he excelled at giving Superman a wide variety of unique facial expressions.
4. Joe Shuster.

Lìke Swan, Shuster deserves one of the top spots on this list. He did co-create the character after all.
3. Evan "Doc" Shaner.

Calling Shaner's art 'retro' is selling him short. Its more accurate to say that he draws classic and timeless versions of the DC characters. And his Superman is definitely the platonic Superman.

If Superman were real, I'd want him to look like this :
2. Guruhiru

The art team of Guruhiru are spectacular artists in their own right, and their take on Superman is inspired. They manage to mix in Disney-esque sensibilities with the Fleischer Superman cartoon and the result is spectacular.
1. Jorge Jimenez.

Jimenez sells the idea of Superman as this larger than life figure. His Superman is powerful and awe inspiring, but above all, clearly kind and compassionate. His art is beautifully stylized and energetic and perfectly nails everything great about Superman.
