In the course of your story, the protagonist may make one or several moral errors which can set up a crucial, major moral error in the culmination.

If your protagonist is likable and relatable, an obvious error in the culmination, especially if that error is learned –

(A)
– learned as a result of feedback from the story world and moral deviations acquired in the course of the story, may result in the sense of tragic ambiguity in the audience.

Examples are rare, but they exist in classic tragedy and in some movies.

Some examples are –

(B)
"Ashes and Diamonds" (1958 Andrzej Wajda film);

"Gone Baby Gone" (2007 Ben Affleck movie);

"Queen of Spades" (an opera by Piotr Tchaikowsky).

(C: End of thread.)
P.S. I just remembered another one:

"Crash" (2004, a Paul Haggis film.)
