If you're interested in buying assets, but need to start small, here's info that could help:
Real Estate.
Often seen as expensive, REIT's (Real Estate Investment Trust) allow you to buy shares of ownership of a portfolio of several properties.

Fundrise: $500 minimum investment

https://robinhood.com/collections/reit As little as $6/share
The Stock Market.
Speculating is risky and puts you in competition with the best. Instead of picking one company, invest in most of the big ones with a low-fee index fund.

Fidelity: $13/share (and no account minimum to open)

Bonds.
All investments come with risk, but bonds are said to be more stable than stocks. If you're a nervous nelly consider a collection of bonds.

Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF ($BND): $89/share

Precious Metals.
Gold is at about $2,000 per oz--so you might not be able to afford any bars. But thanks to technology, you can own shares of a pool of gold bullion.

World Gold Trust ($GLDM): $20/share
Available in your favorite brokerage account (e-trade, robinhood, etc.)
Peer to Peer Lending.
High Risk because your loan isn't secured by anything. Only really advisable if you believe people are inherently good.

Prosper: $25 minimum

Digital Products.
If you've got an experience that can help others ("What You Need To Know Before Renting Out Your Spare Room On AirBnB") then package that as an ebook or digital course.

Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/teaching/
There's lots more, but these are some of the most common with the lowest barriers to entry. So don't let a lack of savings stop you from beginning to own assets and build wealth.
