Ok, this needs to end now. Y'all are undermining the lives of girls as well as the lives of boys.

The facts:

-Coleman committed acts pertaining to revenge porn till he was 14. The age doesn't matter that much, but I don't know why you keep saying he was 12. https://twitter.com/thomaschattwill/status/1297224790403670017
-Coleman also harassed women in recent years. One thought about taking out a restraining order
-This is not a case where he has built up a lifetime of public service between the bad acts and now. He has done nothing. We don't have anything to weight the bad acts against.
And here's what I keep thinking about. I was bullied a lot in middle school. Mostly about my looks. On one occasion two boys held me down in a movie theater while another grabbed my breasts.

As jerky as a lot of boys were most of them didn't do this.
I had two boyfriends in high school. One committed suicide and one is a person who I am bonded with to this day. Both were lovely people. I'm grateful they were my 1st boyfriends. Boys aren't necessarily people who commit revenge porn behavior. That's actually rare.
Now, that's not to say that if someone does engage in revenge porn that they are irredeemable. They might very well be. But this isn't "boys will be boys" behavior. Don't reduce young men to this. It's not who they need to be.
So, if you do do something like this, assault a friend, commit revenge porn, etc, I think there's a lot of room for growth. But that doesn't mean you're worthy of public office 5 years later. You've got to do something to show us you've grown.
Either way, I really need people to stop acting like "boo hoo revenge porn." That's actually a serious sexual offense. One that is deeply damaging to girls. One that most boys don't commit. And one that we shouldn't normalize

I knew a lot of bullies. Most of them didn't do that
And I want to say again: I knew so many good guys in middle school & high school. A lot of them did shitty things. But a lot of them also were kind and caring and willing to grow. We should try to be sending the message that all boys can be like that.
P.S. I mentioned that one of my boyfriends in high school is now deceased. He died by suicide (after we dated, while we were friends). Coleman's recent callousness re: suicide is reason enough to disqualify him.
And, also, we're not talking about whether he should be in prison. We're talking about whether he should hold elected office where he represents women. Stop conflating these issues.

If he wants to grow & show us who he can be, I'm all for it. Elected office isn't the place.
