WHY CANCEL CULTURE IS TOXIC
~a thread~
•If you personally have to do a good amount of digging to find something bad someone has done then it’s toxic. PLEASE keep in mind that cultures and what is offensive/what’s not has changed among the years.
•”Canceling” someone or unstaning them should only be taken into consideration when, 1) there is actual proof and evidence and/or a situation where you always believe the victim over the accused (innocent until proven guilty)
2) whatever this person has done is recent and not 10+ years ago. i can’t speak for everyone but i do know earlier in the 2000s and so on, certain words/things were not considered offensive.
3) if this person hasn’t apologized for what they’ve done, GIVEN the fact that they have the ability to apologize, because they are constantly active on social media. If you personally want to unstan someone because whatever they have said or done pertains to specifically you-
than by all means you can do that.
BUT spreading false info and trying to “expose” someone because they still stan or support this person is absolutely wrong. tagging someone and asking them why in public is not the right way to do it AT ALL.
some of these ppl’s lives have changed just because of these people they stan. so don’t expect people to immediately agree with you and stop stanning this person right away and some of y’all really try to cancel fans and moots just bc they haven’t canceled their favorite stan(s)
I know people who have been affected just bc they had a hard time unstanning their IDOLS; people who they look up to. Some of you guys participating in this stupid cancel culture have caused friends of mine to go in full blown panic attacks just because you tagged them in public-
-demanding for answers and reasons behind their choices on wether or not they should cancel someone they stan. what some of you guys are going is TOXIC and absolutely inapt. be aware of others feelings also...
