ikon being irresponsible, disrespectful and rude to staff/fans - a thread @YG_iKONIC #iKON
please keep in mind that this thread is only supposed to show the true side of ikon! i didn't proof read this so sorry for any mistakes
hanbin and yunhyeong stopping the concert and asking the fans to be safe, and to not push each other/hurt each other
on ikon tv ep 7, jinhwan wanted to "test" their morals with hidden pranks, and even when they didn't have to, all of them helped the staff carry the water bottles up the stairs. this might sound like the bare minimum (it is), but keep in mind this is the kpop industry +
idols are not supposed to "go out of their way" to help. still on ep 7, all of them chose to step up and protect the writer, and on yun/bin/bobby's prank, they were at a public place and idols are not supposed to 'get in trouble' for their staff, bc it might be seen as a scandal
whenever people meet ikon, they always mention about how polite/kind they are, even when there's no cameras around. ikon mentioned about how success can go over one's mind, and they keep remembering themselves to be humble and respectful to others
even after being mistreated by their own staff, ikon never acts 'cocky' or forget to thank them after recordings/broadcasts. on ikon tv, they (themselves) often bought food for their staff as well.
bobby has always been very direct when it comes to respecting women as, from his lyrics on 'lean on me', saying no means no, but also mentioning the likes to get his nails done/get nail art, and mentioning progressive thoughts about gender roles
i would like to mention that talking about these things in south korea (especially as a public figure) can be very hard and even treated as a scandal sometimes, so for ikon to openly mention these topics is a huge thing not only for them, but for other idols too
i just reminded of the what's wrong mv as well
hanbin lately has been 'known' for doing charity work, but he has been donating money on a regular basis since a long time ago, but wanted to remain anonymous. since he has more time now, we've seen him doing a lot of charity work, esp with children/orphanages. it might seem +
something small but if you've ever been to an orphanage you know how hard it is for the children to have the basics, to get enough attention, etc, so seeing him do this type of work means a lot not only for his fans but for the kids themselves
some more answers about money related questions (i can't find it but bobby also mentioned he would like to send clean water to countries that don't have access to it if he won the lottery, jinhwan said he would like to help abandoned animals/build a shelter).
even tho ikon had dreams about being big, they didnt rlly care about selling/charts overall, and always tell fans to not spend too much money on them. instead, they encourage us to buy stuff for ourselves and if there's anything leftover, buy another album/concert ticket
ikon doesn't really have a lot of friends in the kpop industry (since they are always on tour/studio), so they can be a little weird in social situations, but they always make sure that the people around them are feeling comfortable (and most importantly, well fed lol)
also, on their songs, whenever there's a breakup/someone's hurt, they never blame the other person for it. it's never "you did this/this was your fault". this might seem small but considering a big part of their audience are women, it is somewhat comforting to know about this.
when they won soty, hanbin's speech was so touching. i wish i could find the video rn, but the most emotional part for me was this. chasing happiness isn't about reaching 'a goal', but rather, being satisfied with each day.
each member has something to bring, but one thing that really stood out to me (esp on ikon tv) is how aware jinhwan is of ikon's image. he knows that a lot of people see ikon as 'troublemakers', 'rude' and even disrespectful boys, which is the reason he chose to do pranks on +
them, but on the last ep (when he was pranked), you can see how much he cares about ikon and how worried he was that they would get in trouble/pass the wrong image, because we (fans) know how well manared they are, but that's not always the case for other ppl
there's a lot of personal favorite moments that i wanted to add but couldn't find pictures/screenshots, but overall to me ikon is a group of individuals raised with lots of love and care, who were taught to always look at others/reconsider before doing or saying anything, +
to always be mindful of those around them, and to keep both feet on the ground but their eyes up in the clouds. ikon best boys <3
