I think we are so deep in being furious about the on-court product/roster construction that we’re failing to see the one silver lining. The 3 games should be making it 100% clear that Ben Simmons was the band aid that made this ungainly roster kinda seem like it worked at times.
The offense is a labor. A compete slog. No one is getting clean looks. Our 3PA is way down as is our shooting %. Ben has been memed for his lack of jumper from basically day 1 but the “big man who runs the floor with vision and handles” player-type always elevates a roster.
The fact that the front office didn’t acquire/retain one other player capable of running the offense and generating easy looks and transition buckets is a different conversion. But if you think just any distributor would make this team play watchable basketball you’re lost.
We complicate a game that is pretty simple. It’s about getting good shots- for yourself or others. We have one player who can get good shots for himself in Jo, but he can’t elevate a roster of misfits from the post. That was Ben’s job and we’re seeing that very clearly now.
The point of this thread is just get Ben and Jo a roster that works and we’ll be fine. Leverage the future to get off Al and get some perimeter scoring. It can be fixed.
