really critical of the casual and seemingly widespread belief in not “owing” anyone anything.
especially when deservingness is still flung around with little criticality or, imo, necessary undoing. sometimes i just wanna say “admit capitalism hugs your tongue & soothes you” but i don’t say that because im careful w/pronouns, the receiving other, the grounded i-self
our language is fucked b/c social scripts have run amok and imagination is often positioned as a grandness (a broadway stage! what a performance!) instead of quotidian and recurring like a breeze that breaks the wave of heat if only to welcome relief’s second.
what if we said “i don’t have anything to give this situation” or “i don’t want to give energy to this situation” instead of “i don’t owe you anything”. what changes? who do we admit ourselves to be? how are boundaries made clearer? maybe the ego loses space to embed
