On plus side, my copy of new (to me) retelling/translation of Ramayana has arrived.
This will be third different retelling/translation I’ll have read along with William Buck’s (ok) and Egenes & Reddy’s (meh).
The Menon version has been highly recommended to me.

I enjoy “ancient” epic lit, ok?
This is 3rd translation/(2nd abridged) of Monkey/“Journey to the West” I’ve read.
Just started this one b/c I need non-nuclear stuff to read.
It is so good I’m gonna buy the full four volume unabridged set over time/when I have money.

If anyone has good translation of Tales of Genji & The Heiki to recommend or other epic lit in the vein of this thread let me know.
