Thread about "White culture", and why it doesn't make any sense.

As a European, someone who was born in France, travelled across several European countries, I always cringe a little when I see (white) Americans talk a out "White culture"
The truth is, there is no such thing as white culture.

Even in a single country (France for instance), you'll find dozens of different cultures, each with their own separate traditions, foods, folklore, and history.
Now, there IS an overarching culture, French culture is very much something that exists.

Yet it isn't BOUND to a people, to an ethnic group, BIPOC folks have participated in French culture since pretty much the earliest known instances of said culture existing.
Germany is an even better example, with every Länder taking pride in its own endemic culture, whilst still existing in a federal space with similar landmarks and cultural aspects.

Historically Germany wasn't even made of ONE SINGLE people, but many united under one entity.
There is no such thing as a European culture either, there is a sense of pride in sharing a space where goods, PEOPLE, and knowledge can travel freely, but this is new, less than 60 years old in fact.

To say that "European culture" exists, is to spit on our common history. S
What about "White" culture ? The definition of "white" itself is unreliable, Italians weren't considered white by America in the 1900s, same with Slavs, Greeks, Spaniards, etc...

White culture doesn't exist, because whiteness only exists as a cudgel against those who aren't.
So, stop talking about how "proud you are" of your "white/european origins"

Just admit you're someone looking for attention, or trying to hide their racism.

Take it from a fellow white person, and educate yourself.
That DOESN'T mean you need to exist with no culture.

If you're a white American it's HIGHLY likely one of your ancestors came to the US from a European country.

I'd suggest you look into it, do a bit of research, but PLEASE, don't wave it in front of everyone.
Just, try and learn the language, find out which region/Land your ancestors came from, WHY they came to the US (this is especially important if they're British or French)

Don't say you're "1/16th Dutch/Irish/French" because that doesn't make any sense and is just insulting.
It's insulting because you're turning something that is vital to some BIPOC folks into a game of genealogical hide 'n' seek.

Just, understand that you'll still be white, even if white culture doesn't exist.
(If you're wondering why I said I was European at the start, it was because a lot of this is about White Americans, but don't get me wrong, White Europeans who believe in the myth of "White culture" are unfortunately a thing.

Yeah, Europe's a bit shit tbh)
