ok omfg we’re starting now so the rules are that i’m going to be reacting to katy’s 4 studio albums (and Smile when it’s released)

album 1: one of the boys

one of the boys: my initial reaction is that it kind of sounds like sims music SHE SOUNDS SO YOUNG AW it sounds very 2008 which i love. it’s a cute opener. kind of long and gets a bit repetitive but it’s cute

i kissed a girl: an ICONIC SONG OMFG i remember my mom wouldn’t let me listen to it pls i have nothing negative to say about it tbh

waking up in vegas: omfg i love the rock influences that this album has already also the coin slots at the beginning is such a clever touch WAIT I RECOGNISE THIS SONG OMFGGGG i didn’t really like the beginning but i really love the chorus which is the most important thing

thinking of you: ok omfg the first ballad-like song on the album... i cant get over how young she sounds pls this is... SO GORGEOUS????? i’m obsessed chile omfg... the lyrics are so stunning as well which is super important for a ballad-like song

jesus christ i LOVE this song bye

mannequin: again... sims music i think it’s just the instrumental but it literally is sims music. the lyrics are cute that’s about it tbh... not my fav :/

ur so gay: that one lyric aside this song is ok. i love a good broody song and even though the subject matter is so fucked it’s literally so funny and the instrumental is a complete serve

hot n cold: one of my fav katy songs going into this deepdive. i remember watching this video on mtv and loving the song. it’s aged so well again nothing negative to say

if you can afford me: ok it’s cute enough, again i love the rock influence but sonically its a bit tired this far into the album hoping for some sonic change... OMG KATYS VOCALS TOWARDS THE END A SERVE

lost: OMG INSTRUMENTALS ALREADY A SERVE??????? and katy sounds so cute ok this is the sonic change i was needing. ok yeah i love this. it is a bit long but it’s worth it honestly

self-inflicted: the lyrics are so great, but the structure of it is a bit predictable... oMG CMON HARMONIES she sounds amazing tho. it gets better the longer u listen to it

one of the boys {FINAL THOUGHTS}: this is a great, very 2008’s inspired album. it got a bit tired sonically at times but the collapses were COLLAPSES and i’ve playlisted three songs

california girls: MY FAV SONG GOING INTO THIS OMGGGG THE NOSTALGIA. this played non stop on release and it’s aged so well
