My take on this, which is getting distorted, is that you should not hold against an adult what they did in middle school. But if that behavior is continuing into adulthood, that’s important to know, and people who’ve interacted with him the last few years would know.

This is about getting as much context as possible before judging. Maybe people’s initial reaction will turn out to be correct. But that doesn’t mean it’s wrong to gather more information from more people before making that call.
