So it came to my attention that some people are trying to undermine fan’s streaming effort as “hyper consumption” that is problematic for deeply engaging with music. But is it, really? As a fan, we know that view counts is never the “endgame”. +
Spending just a few minutes doing the search on Twitter will lead you to massive amount of content that “fans” created as we analyze and discuss the artist’s works and also share the stories of how they truly impacted our lives.+
However, we still engage in these streaming activities because that is how we show our love and support for our artists, how we show to the world outside of the fandom to understand the significance and impact of our artists,+
how we show to the world outside of the fandom to understand the significance and impact of our artists, and how we connect with each other in the community.+
To many of us, working together and achieving these goals is how we confirm the existence and strength of our community - especially today when most of us are in isolation, that there are people out there working towards the same goal+
because we believe in the same thing. And when we collectively work together, we are in fact able to accomplish wonderful things, that there is still hope in this world.+
And if people cannot understand one of the most important values of music which is to connect people, then I doubt if they ever truly experienced fandom and understand what it is.
