First things first, get it through your head that there is no homogeneous 'Telugu Identity'.

Also, let's just acknowledge that Telugu twitter is filled with Krishna-Guntur-WG-EG elites.
Two, Telugu identity has always been an argument of Krishna-Guntur-Godavari intellectuals. These "intellectuals" gatekeep the language, and have made numerous attempts to standardize Telugu. Which they succeeded in btw.
There are these constructs - 'Pramaanikam', 'Mandalikam'. Pramaanikam is basically the language that one is 'supposed' to speak. Anyone speaking anything else is 'Mandalikam', and by default a lower person.
So basically anyone not speaking in the language approved by Krishna-Guntur-WG-EG people, are uncultured. And words have died out due to this. People no longer use the word "వర్ర". Instead we now use a standardized term "కారం" for chili powder.
Anyone who uses the term "వర్ర" would invetably be considered as someone from a village and is lower class/caste.

I don't understand why, but people from these districts seem to have extreme contempt towards Telugu language. People have spent lifetimes to hate on the language.
Due to this sort of gatekeeping an entire state had to be formed. People from the four districts ruined the Telugu experience for everyone else. And maybe at some point, if this continues, a third state may also take form.
While Telugu "intellectuals" had pushed for homogenisation, the same is also being done by Telugu Twitter. From what I see, a large majority of people, who are pushing 'Telugu Identity' are either bored & rejected NRIs (who don't have any sense of what they are doing)
And city settled people from these four districts, who are also just as clueless about Telugu. Unsurprisingly, both these sets of people come from the same four districts (there maybe a few exceptions. Can't/won't talk about everyone).
And these people are continuing the great arrogant tradition of Telugus belittling other Telugu people. And they seem to be actively trying to push for one homogeneous Telugu identity.
I'm sorry, not everyone has the same experience as a person from the fuckall four districts. Some person in Jammalamadugu lives a completely different life from some person in Nizambad and some person in Eluru.
For instance, not all Telugu people eat the same breakfast as people from these four districts. People eat Uggani for breakfast in Rayalaseema. People from Northern Andhra eat Ganji Annam.
Me, being a person from Hyderabad, mostly skip breakfast, because I cannot eat upma or dosa or idly in the morning (or ever). Unless there is something like kheema roti or puri chicken, I'd rather not eat breakfast and have an early lunch (which is far more exciting)
So I don't see it. I don't understand when someone tweets out - Telugu identity blah blah blah... How arrogant and uninformed one must be to actually push "Telugu identity". How stupid must one be to alienate the majority of Telugus.
PS - not getting into the identity of Telugu Muslims or the "backwardness" of certain regions in the two states. Some other rant, some other time.
