I’ve been paying attention to all of the comments from moms this week abt their children’s first week of virtual schooling. And I can’t understand how any of them, based on their reaction to it, would keep their child enrolled in that for 3 more seconds.
Our kids deserve better.
Our kids deserve better.
But too many of them seem content to explain it away with “this is new & different so the child just needs to adjust.”
No, it’s not just new & different. It’s abnormal, it’s wrong, and honestly in some cases I would call it abusive.
No kid should be forced to “learn” like this.

Other moms jump in to try and reassure one another.
“It’ll get better. Just hang in there. Everyone has a hard time adjusting to learning in a different way and situation.”
They’re lying to each other.

Clearly a child sitting in front of a computer with zero interpersonal contact for 6-8 hours each day is not right. And we all know it. They know it. You know it. I know it.
But we’re so stuck in this system. Public schooling is all we know. Our children are cogs in a machine.

The thing is though, that this is not a brand new problem. It’s just that the current issues are serving to reveal the larger underlying issue that’s always been there.
Public “education” doesn’t work. Not just now, but for a very, very long time.

What moms and dads need to do is stand up for their children. They need to say “this is wrong and I won’t subject my child to it any longer.” And they need to be willing to take back the God-given authority and responsibility they’ve abdicated to the state.
