1/ I started my job as @MotherJones’ new COO a few weeks before the pandemic shut down most of the Bay Area.

2/ To be honest, I rarely write about myself. Now that I’ve caught my breath, I wanted to introduce myself to our readers. So I wrote this letter. https://bit.ly/31iUVKc

Without journalists, my mom often said, "we just would not know."

I wanted to become a reporter because I want to tell truth to power.

3/ It got me thinking about why I became a reporter and what that means now that I’m the COO. I talked about what it’s like for a Detroit kid, who grew up to be a journalist, to help lead a news organization right now.

4/I’m excited about rethinking what it means to build a diverse, resilient investigative news nonprofit.
