So are you guys asking cosplayers where they got their resources and they straight-up ignore you, or are you getting upset because people aren’t writing tutorials or posting WIPs for every thing they make?
That ish takes time? And there have been instances where I’ve explained how I did something and the person has not so much complained in someone else’s comments about it.
But definitely when someone has asked me, I’ve given them sources and details.
Some of us are also self-taught/aren’t comfortable in our process. We wing-it. We’re also afraid of the Judging Elites. Ex: makeup brushes... I don’t even know what 90% of them are for. I go “Uhh, big angled brush! I’ll use for contour I guess!”
Sometimes I’m afraid of posting my WIP step by step in real-time, because I do mess up and have to throw away a work and start-over. It’s a personal loss that you’re displaying to the public, especially if you’re not an expert and everyone else around you is. Confidence issues.
We really gotta stop this cut-and-dry “if this person doesn’t do ____, it means they want to see you fail!!!” in the community. So. Much. Projecting. People have their insecurities and bad experiences, y’all. Not everyone’s trying to see you suffer. Ask for links/resources!
Separate facts from stories you derive in your head! Did you ask the cosplayer? Do they have a Patreon linked on their profile? Put yourselves in their shoes! Maybe they’re just insecure in their process!
