Does anyone else jump out of bed when they get a #DreamsPS4 idea? Shadow detection/dynamic brightness. K, g night.
Each cube has a laser parallel to the sun. If one hits a surface, that spot is in shadow. Then they're all averaged (like a camera).
Going forward, I'll try a Monte Carlo method by having 1 (or a few) scopes that take a random sample across the view.

By the way, I really think Dreams could benefit from a gadget that outputs the average pixel brightness (pre-fx) of all or part of the screen. I'll post a feature request if this doesn't pan out.
