The fact that I’ve lived through the birth of kinblr (I was one of the first back then) and am living through its downfall is simply depressing. I witnessed things you would not believe.
For those who are curious on what 2012 was like for the ancient kinnies like myself, here are a few memorable moments.
People constantly asked you what it meant to be kin, promptly making others question whether you were mentally ill or not.
Callouts were simply not a thing back then. You would not believe the amount of things that went unnoticed by the community. The amount of gore blogs was unbelievable.
Roleplayers back then were not too fond of the community. Kinnies who roleplayed had to often hide the fact that they felt a kinship towards a character.
Sharing memories on main was a common thing back then.
If you were popular, you would expect to receive at least twenty asks every day. Including roleplaying threads you wanted nothing to do with. I speak from experience.
I had someone who was Sid from the Elite Four block me because I posted a picture of Aqua Leader Archie once. Which is entirely understandable, have a nice day.
It was also incredibly common to receive fan mails (yes, fan mails) of people describing in detail how you were part of their past lives and that they had dated you or assassinated you in their canon.
The concept of "doubles" was ludicrous to begin with. There were no doubles. You were either "the one", or you were nothing. Next question.
It was incredibly rare to find someone who shared an identity with multiple characters. People often had only one identity.
In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, a few points on this thread were carried through until 2015.
