An aspect of trans healthcare reform that I don& #39;t see enough chat about is removing the arbitrary BMI requirements on gender affirming surgeries.

Apparently fat trans ppl don& #39;t deserve to feel gender congruence and at home in their bodies https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙃" title="Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙃" title="Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙃" title="Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙃" title="Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙃" title="Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht">
Trans healthcare is an area where medical fatphobia is so pronounced and punitive. Narratives of "earn your transition by diet/exercise, you fatty", fucking abound.
If you really wanna be a girl/boy you& #39;ll get on that exercise bike and starve yourself for 6 months to fit into an arbitrary weight category that& #39;s scientifically questionable and proven to be antiblack.
I really want to know if any of the folks campaigning/working behind the scenes for trans healthcare change are tackling this issue. Because otherwise we& #39;re merely removing gatekeeping for skinny people.
