I encourage you all to comment on the Department for Transport's Consultation on Decarbonisation of Transport: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/WF1I3C/

This thread contains some suggestions for answers to their questions. 1/?
Car use should be discouraged by making walking or cycling easier and simpler options for short journeys. 2/?
For last-mile goods delivery, promote and invest in last mile cycle delivery, such as @ZedifyUK 4/?
Tax aviation, particularly freqent flyers, and encourage people to go @FlightFree2020. Require cigarette-style warnings on aviation booking websites. 5/?
Consider a Predicted Additional Vehicle
Miles Travelled levy on new development so that development which is not well connected to sustainable
transport networks have to pay for the infrastructure improvements needed to de-carbonise. 6/?
Carbon emissions from transport are heavily influenced by forms of development. If we only built in such a way that all day-to-day travel could be achieved with walking and cycling, no special low-carbon transport initiatives would be required. 7/7
