There's a hack to achieving your long term goals. A lot of people are scared to dream big long term because their dreams scare them.
If your dreams scare you, you're one of the lucky ones. All you need is to be conscientious.
Let me break it down for you.

I.Q has been proven to be the biggest determinant of success. But since only a select few are born with exceptional I.Q, we will not be talking about that.

I believe it was Michelle Obama who said she's been in rooms with some of the world's most influential people and they
are hardly geniuses. They do not posses an outstanding I.Q, neither are they visibly special in any way (I'm paraphrasing ofcourse).
So how did they do it?
The second highest determinant of success has proven by several studies done across-the-board is conscientiousness.

What is conscientiousness?
I like to make my words simple as possible so I'll define it as the ability to thoroughly follow through on your pre-planned actions.

match situations."
You're conscientious if you follow through on that planned action come what may. It might mean you have to buy your own ball and have an arrangement with your team's goal keeper to come to training early so he can train with you and maybe pay his transport.

How does this have to do with your dreams?
No dream is too big, no goals too lofty. It all comes down to how you are able to break the steps needed to accomplish that goal down to the smallest fraction and then thoroughly follow through on those fractions one by one.

In even simpler terms, ask yourself what you want your life to look like in 10 years. What do you want to have achieved in a decade. Then break them down into smaller goals- micro processes that you can achieve in the short term.
Our friend who we discussed earlier's goal might

Remember the last time you set a goal for yourself and accomplished it? There was this internal joy inside you right, you felt really good? That's how dopamine works.
So in essence. Break the bigger goals down into micro-processes and follow through on them.

Everytime your internal reward system releases dopamine into your brain for accomplishing that smaller goal, it'll become that much easier to chase the bigger goal because your brain now relates that goal to a good feeling and we all like to feel good.
That's it.
That's it.
To recap.
- Define your goals.
- Set a goal completion date.
- Define what you need to accomplish that goal ( practice, an online course, a degree, internship, etc).
- Break the goals down into further smaller achievable units.
- Follow through on the micro-processes.

- The more you follow through, the better you become at chasing your goals because your brain then goes into autopilot by associating the goal with a good feeling.
That's how the people Michelle Obama talked about did it.
That's how the people Michelle Obama talked about did it.
They didn't let their goals scare them.
They just broke it down and chased the smaller particles one at a time.
Plan, break down plan into micro-processes, follow through until you reach the top.
All the best.
