/ Tweets not getting any attention? Do you feel as though you're tweeting to yourself? Seeing others getting tons of like, retweets and comments? No new followers?

Here's probably why (a thread)

/ you could be on a Twitter ban, Twitter bans users if they commit 'Twitter sins', these include too many retweets in a short space of time, spamming and so on. You can check your account by going to https://shadowban.eu  and search with your @ handle.
/ over using hashtags, unlike Instagram where you maximise exposure with 30 hashtags, Twitter doesn't like the same method. It looks spammy. Try 2/3 hashtags per tweet only.
/ engage more. Reply to your followers. Don't expect them to automatically respond to every tweet. Twitter is a two way street. Also responding alerts the Twitter algorithm to show that you're an active member.
/ tweet at a sensible time. If you're a UK artist who sells artwork, there's no point tweeting about your new work at a unsociable time such as 2am. No one will see it. Research the best time that's suitable for you and your business.
/ users have their Twitter feed set to top tweets only. So unless you're a 'top tweeter' you're likely to never be seen. To be a top tweet you need to have engagements on your tweets.
/ you're an a**hole! Serious, if you swear too much or cause offense you can be classed as being offensive. Your tweets and replies will be hidden. Same can be said for heavy political views too.
/ Twitter is having technical difficulties, sometimes either the desktop, iOS or Android (or even all 3) run into problems, users might not see you and you might not be able to see them.
/ you're not using GIF's, photos, videos or other media. It's been proven people interact more when your tweet is accompanied by some sort of media. Try using a GIF to enhance your exposure.
/ you're not following people. Twitter is a numbers game. Fail to play the game and you'll be left out. You can't expect to gain followers if you don't follow people. Also new people will find you based on who you follow and be recommended to follow your account.
/ you're only tweeting about you and your stuff. The biggest turn off for any Twitter user is someone only interested in promoting themselves. So retweet and share others too. They might even share your tweet as a courteous thank you.
/ I'd like to add that these are merely my own personal observations. It might be different for you and your Twitter feed. But, if you're not getting much interaction it's worth at least trying these tips.
