The top tier striker dilemma!

Taking a look at the best options up front in the 8.5-10.5 million category...
There are 10 players in this price range and I’ll be analysing the players I feel are viable options as well as giving you my final opinions!
1/ Danny Ings:
With a season best 22 goals and 2 assists along with 198 fpl points, Ings comes into the season in fine form

Underlying stats for the 19/20 season:
Shots per 90- 2.89
Conversion rate- 0.23
xG- 15.66

To me these stats show Ings to be a ridiculously good finisher
Over the course of a season!
His conversion rate is second only to Mane and he considerably outperformed his xG...
If he keeps up this quality of finishing I think he’ll break 200 points this season (bare in mind how bad Soton were from gw 1-9 last year)...

Those are nice fixtures to start, paired with his great form and finishing I think Ings is a great pick to start the season!
He also almost always gets 3 bonus when he scores, which is a huge plus.

Captaincy option? Maybe on a once off
2/ Raul Jimenez:
Raul got an impressive 17 goals and 7 assists last season scoring 194 points!

Stats for 19/20 season:
xG- 16.51
Shots per 90- 3.17
Conversion rate- 0.11

Conversion rate was a little low, but I wouldn’t worry due to his other stats being really good!
Raul’s pros:
Consistent returns
Big assist returns as well as goals
Like Ings, almost always delivers max bonus when he scores
Not playing in Europe

Con:
Not explosive

After a tough start, his gw 3-7 fixtures are phenomenal...
I would really recommend owning Raul especially for those fixtures!

Captaincy option?❌ (not explosive enough)
3/ Anthony Martial
With 17 goals and 9 assists last season, he got 200 fpl points (as a mid)

Stats for 19/20 season:
xG- 13.24
Shots per 90- 2.71
Conversion rate- 0.22

Tony has a pretty average amount of shots per 90, but a really high conversion rate and outperforms xG nicely!
It’s important to remember with Martial is that he missed 7 games through injury last season!
That means he got 26 g/a in 31 games👀🔥

Pros:
High ceiling
Team creates a load of chances
Great form atm

Cons:
Blanks GW1
Slightly injury prone

After the blank he has some nice fixtures and has proven he can score against the big teams regardless!
He is my favourite striker option AFTER the blank based on current form.
Maybe worth having on bench GW1🤔

Captaincy option?✅
4/ Gabby Jesus
Jesus got 14 goals and 8 assists last season returning 146 points!

Stats:
xG- 21.02
Shots per 90- 4.52
Conversion rate- 0.14

The xG underperformance is woeful and shows just how bad he is at finishing, however, he gets enough chances that it may make up for it.
Gabby’s pros:
Plays for Man City
Gets a huge amount of very good chances
Gets a lot of assists

Cons:
Awful finisher
Heavy rotation with Aguero back
Blanks GW1
Fixtures:

Not the greatest run of fixtures but city assets are pretty fixture proof!
Personally, I think Jesus is too bad at finishing to be considered due to him likely only playing 50-60% of City’s minutes with Aguero back!

Captaincy option?❌
5/ Sergio Aguero
Sergio got 16 goals and 6 assists last season despite only playing around 1450 minutes!

Stats for 19/20:
xG- 15.56
Shots per 90- 4.52
Conversion rate- 0.19

Statswise he looks incredible!
He also averaged a goal contribution every 66 minutes👀
Agueros pros:
Plays for city
Quality finisher
Best goalscorer in the league🤔
Gets so many great chances
Arguably highest ceiling in the game

Cons:
Lack of minutes
Lack of minutes
Lack of minutes
Pep help us out here and give him more minutes
Getting older (injuries creeping in)

Aguero blanks GW1 and is just coming back from a bad injury!
Wouldn’t recommend starting with him but, if he gets back fit he’s my favourite asset in the game at only 10.5👀
All about timing when to own with him

Captaincy option?✅✅✅
6/ Harry Kane
Kane managed 18 goals and 2 assists last season despite missing 9 games through injury.

Stats:
xG- 13.3
Shots per 90- 2.71
Conversion rate- 0.21

These are the stats you expect to see from a world class goalscorer turned cdm and why you pay 10.5 mill for him👑!
Kane’s pros:
Top quality finisher and goalscorer
Mourinho good history with his number 9s
Fresh and rested
High ceiling

Cons:
Reports he’s in quarantine and missing some/ a lot of preseason
Fixtures:

Fixtures are really good, particularly 5-8...
Kane has had a pretty good rest between lockdown and offseason which I think he desperately needed, I now see him getting back close to his best!
Looks a v good pick👍

Captaincy option?✅
7/ Timo Werner
Timo scored 28 goals and got 8 assists in the Bundesliga last season with Leipzig... Really impressive numbers!

Stats:
xG- 23.45
Shots per 90- 3.77
Conversion rate- 0.21

Werner had a terrific season last season and the stats back that up hugely! Tempting at 9.5🤔
Werners pros:
Comes in at a very low price for what he promises (9.5)
Outrageously good stats
Chelsea strikers get so many chances (only city strikers avg. more SiB)

Cons:
New team and league- unknown will it take time to settle in
Occasionally prone to missing some easy chances
Fixtures:

SOU

These are nice fixtures to start for Werner and makes him more tempting.
Risk is negated by being able to switch to so many good options at a similar price...
It is also easy to bring him in later for the same reason

Captaincy option?✅
8/ Jamie Vardy
The golden boot winner with 23 goals and 7 assists last season returning 210 points!

Stats:
xG- 18.9
Shots per 90- 2.58
Conversion rate- 0.22

High conversion rate, overperforms xG.... It’s what he does!
Vardy pros:
Fixture proof
High ceiling
Reliable goals
Great finisher

Cons:
Leicester without Ricardo, Evans and Chilwell (sold) to start the season... Will it affect the whole team🤔
Fixtures:

WOL

Vardy has great opening fixtures and is a good captaincy option for 3-4 of the games...
Leicester did finish last season poorly and have issues in defence to start the season... but I think Vardy will do well nonetheless

Captaincy?✅
In conclusion, there are multiple great top tier attacking options...

Personally my top picks are:
1/ Kane
2/ Martial
3/ Ings/Jimi

* I have only seen Werner play 2-3 times and want to see him in Prem first

** This list is to start the season and assuming Sergio isn’t 100% fit
