Thread 1/n: Even though the world is topsy-turvy, the annual rare breed chicken show happened in #Hobart today - I am your willing correspondent
/n - the silver spangled Hamburg is a stunner with a blue beak and legs to boot - shame about their warty comb but I guess u can’t have it all
/n - my personal favourite and winner of the best #quoll costume is the Ancona - flighty as hell but what a Chook
/n - this bruiser is an Australian pit game and I learned that they establish their hierarchy by murdering any chook they meet, making the survivor both the strongest and loneliest Chook
/n - this velociraptor is what a lady pit game Chook looks like and with stems like that you can tell she’s ready to fuck shit up
/n - golden sebright bantams are a breed unashamed that they serve no practical purpose beyond beauty
/n - Sebrights are also odd because the roosters have female plumage (no tail sickles or neck and rump hackles). Plus look at that walnut comb
/n - the Phoenix has incredibly long tail feathers which I think would be more impressive when not being trampled on in a show cage

/n - Plymouth Rock chooks are just enormous and their stripes are only accentuated by their sleepy looking faces

/n - this is a silky chicken but I genuinely dunno if it’s a hen or rooster because it’s literally all just #floof - fun fact is that unlike other chooks silkies have 5 toes and black flesh and skin
/n - the araucana is a great but odd looking Chook - blue eggs, beards, sideburns and a little crest to round it out. Sometimes they have no tail as well!
