He is old
He won't match PL's pace

Even at 36 look at the tight marking with a high defensive line and then the impeccable slide tackle.

He is the exact calm figure we need at the back. Look how easily Silva nullifies this long ball. He carries an aura in defending like none other.

Someone like Zouma/AC will be enhanced with Silva's presence.

Did someone say no pace? Look at this experience Silva has in defending. He did not have an illustrious career by chance. He is still damn good! Stays with his man, matches his pace and negates the threat.

We simply lack this leadership/experience in the back.

He is still so quick to think. He is all over his opponent before they can even think what's going on. This is purely due to the immense experience he has.

He will undoubtedly improve us while we wait for our long term target.
