There are men with bad takes on media everywhere tbh but I think the reason it’s so baffling to me regarding Tolkien is that one of the important textual themes is how histories become subjective and altered through translation and the perspective of the storyteller!
And so to see tolkien purists staunchly defend some interpretations of the text and condemn others (gay ones let’s be real) seems like such a misunderstanding of the intent of the work they CLAIM to be such a scholar of?
Furthermore the theme of revisionist history and the fallibility of oral and written traditions NECESSITATES examining queer erasure??? I’m just like, stop asking if I read the books BRO did YOU read the books??
