SYMOBOLISM IN SECRET RINGS SONGS:

A thread
Let the Speed Mend It: Sand Oasis

Sonic has just realized the stakes of his mission, and that he’s gotta move quick and get those rings before time runs out. Shahra is also feeling guilty for dragging Sonic into a mission with a deadly time limit, hence the mending part.
The Wicked Wild: Dinosaur Jungle

The symbolism in this song is that everything is out to get him, the dinosaurs, even the landscape itself. Everything is trying to crush/kill Sonic and he has to tread carefully to survive.
The Palace That Was Found: Evil Foundry

Sonic at this point has realized his mission is a giant game of win or lose, which is illustrated by the lyrics “Whos gonna rock the place” and shows Sonics self confidence by saying “we’re forever gonna rock the place” basically saying
He doesn’t lose.
High and Broken: Levitated Ruin

While there wasn’t much to go off of due to the lack of lyrics, I think the music speaks for itself. In an action movie at the climax, would you expect lyrics in the music? If your answer is no, this is why. The lack of lyrics adds to the
tension, making things more high stakes. Note that this is about halfway through the game, and that by this point Sonic had only half of the flame of judgement remaining.
No Way Through: Pirate Storm

The name of the song in my opinion is based off the fact that the place is deserted and broken. No travelers had seemed to have walked the road in years, and Sonic would have to make it through in order to stop the Ifrit.
The White Sky: Skeleton Dome

The lyrics in this song are full of symbolism. It talks about Cheating a book to keep her, which I assume refers to Shahra and the fact that Sonic is changing the story, aka, cheating the book. It also speaks about how nothing lasts,
Which is a prominent theme in the sequel to Secret Rings, Sonic and the Black Knight.
The Unawakening Float: Night Palace

The first few lyrics of this song illustrate that Sonic doesn’t have much time left, and keep in mind the cutscene before he enters the palace, he collapses because only a slither of his life force remained. The song in my opinion
Consists of Sonics thoughts on whether he’ll make it to the finish or not.

“Must I float away? Will I ever wake?”
Seven Rings in Hand: Sonic and the Secret Rings

This is a perfect theme for the game, as it illustrates how the people of the Arabian Nights can have hope again, which is said by “Make Beliefs Reborn” also known as “Restore Hope to those without it.”
That’s all the symbolism I took out of the main stage themes. If you want me to do symbolism for boss themes (which there is a lot of) show this thread some support, and I’ll get the next part out as soon as possible! Until then, thank you for reading.
