Here’s a thread on tv show theme songs sung by black people

Now this thread in particular is based on my research so if I say somebody sung a theme song and you KNOW I’m wrong, please correct me. Don’t embarrass me tho

1. The Proud Family - sung by Destiny’s Child and Solange Knowles

2. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air - rapped by Will Smith himself

3. Moesha - this show had one theme song sung in different styles for each season. Brandy sung all versions of the theme

4. That’s So Raven - Raven Symoné sang the lead vocals while Orlando Brown did the lil rap

5. Sister, Sister - it is rumored that En Vogue sung the first theme song for the show. As for the second theme, Tia and Tamera Mowry sung it themselves

6. The Parkers - this show had one theme song and it was sung by Countess Vaughn

7. The Jamie Foxx Show - this show had 2 theme songs and both were sung by Jamie Foxx himself

8. Kim Possible - sung by Christina Millian

9. Girlfriends - sung by Angie Stone (it’s only like 3 seconds but this theme top 5 and it’s not 5)

10. Living Single - rapped by Queen Latifah

11. The Wayan Bros - the theme is basically a part of the song “Electric Relaxation” by A Tribe Called Quest (very iconic if you ask me!)

12. A Different World - this show has 3 themes in total. Aretha Franklin sung the second theme song while Boyz II Men and Terrence Forsythe sung the third one (Aretha’s version ate them all in my opinion)

13. One On One - sung by B.Slade (formerly known as Tonéx) and Shanice

14. Kenan And Kel - rapped by Coolio

15. Martin - This show had 3 theme songs in total. The person in the background for the first two themes is Christopher Reid aka “Kid” from Kid ‘n Play. The third theme is sung by the group Take 6

16. The Jeffersons - sung by Ja’Net DuBois (this is so iconic

RIP to her)

17. True Jackson VP - sung by Keke Palmer (a very underrated masterpiece)

18. Cousin Skeeter - sung by 702

19. Half and Half - sung by Melonie Daniels

20. Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper - this show had 3 theme songs in total. En Vogue, Dawnn Lewis, and Holly Robinson Peete sung the first theme song. Sherwood Ball, Carmen Carter and Oren Waters sung the third one (the second theme was removed for copyright reasons)

21. Brandy and Mr. Whiskers - sung by Lou Bega

22. All That - sung/rapped by members of TLC

23. Arthur - sung by Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers

24. Smart Guy - I searched up and down for the girl who did the first theme song and I could not find her

as for the second theme, Hami did the vocals and Omar Gooding did the rap (if you know who did the first theme, let me know bc she snapped)

25. As Told By Ginger - this show had 3 theme songs in total. Cree Summer sung the second one and Macy Gray sung the third one (I like Macy’s version better)

26. Danny Phantom - rapped by DJ D-Wrek (yes, “Aye DJ D-Wrek, cut the beat” DJ D-Wrek)

27. Romeo! - rapped by Romeo Miller himself (this the greatest thing he ever done besides ICDC College)

28. All Of Us - sung by Sheléa Frazier (this show underrated and so is the theme song

)

29. Malcolm and Eddie - sung by Vesta Williams (she was SINGING in this. RIP to her)

30. In Living Color - this show had 2 main theme songs with many variations to them. Both themes were rapped by Heavy D and The Boyz

31. The Boondocks - rapped by Asheru

32. Eve - rapped by Missy Elliott

33. A.N.T. Farm - sung by China Anne McClain (say what y’all want but she sung DOWN)

34. All Grown Up! - sung by Cree Summer

35. The PJs - sung by George Clinton, LaRita Norman and Marie Norman

36. Taina - sung by Christina Vidal (she ate this)

37. Cory in the House - rapped by Kyle Massey

38. Roc - this show had 2 theme songs in total. Jerry Lawson sung the first one and En Vogue sung the second one

41. Soul Food - this show had one theme song but had two different versions of it. The first version is sung by Al Green and the second is sung by Al Green but in collaboration with Sy Smith

Gimme a Break! - sung by Nell Carter (I discovered this show not too long ago and it’s sooooo cute. RIP to her)

How To Rock - sung by Cymphonique Miller (did ANYBODY watch this? ANYBODY???)

Family Ties - sung by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams (this theme makes me feel... good. I can’t describe it)

Hip Hop Harry - rapped by David Joyner (yes, Hip Hop Harry is a black man)

Thea - I’ve seen that Thea Vidale herself sung the theme song for her show but it’s not confirmed

Reading Rainbow - this show has one theme song but 3 different versions of it. Tina Fabrique sung the first version (my favorite), Johnny Kemp sung the second, and Chaka Khan sung the third

Out All Night - sung by Patti LaBelle herself (this show was a hidden gem but Patti snapped per usual)

Stanley - sung by Baha Men
