Our #TransformativeJustice journey began in March 2017 when @XChangeIdeas brought @MiaMingus to @michiganstateu for a 2-day #TJ Talk Series. @TashmicaTorok spread the word + we showed up! SN: I was a one-woman #AmenCorner in the back of the classroom at her talk the day before.

When I reach the trailhead a few miles later, I pivot to head back + BLAM! I run into @XChangeIdeas who told me that she’d recently spoken to @MiaMingus about her plan to reach out to me + @TashmicaTorok to discuss the possibility of seeding #TJ in #LoveLansing. #Magic
We met for coffee soon after where we connected around our respective #boardingschool stories (and traumas) + did some precursory #podmapping about who else would be down for #TJ. Phiwa Langeni, @thephiwa, who’d I just met in June through a good friend, instantly came to mind!
In Sept 2017, I introduced @XChangeIdeas to @thephiwa, who is the founder + former Director of @SalusCenterMI, at the Center's opening. Within 2 weeks, the 3 of us + @TashmicaTorok linked up back at Salus for our very 1st #IsWeDoinThis TJ meeting. #kismet

Many #cocktails + #keekees later, @miamingus returned to Lansing in May 2018 to facilitate a #TransformativeJustice Intensive for our #cohort @FirecrackerFdn.
@miamingus beautifully held the space for us as we created #Practices, #Values, #Agreements + #Dreamlines + committed to the #LittleBySlowly #praxis of integrating, failing/learning, reflecting + building our capacity for this deep relational + #accountability work together.
We’ve continued to “thicken our relationships,” to quote @XChangeIdeas, with a mini TJ Retreat in Nov 2018, Zoom check-ins, #strategery sessions + just showing up for each other. And #BlessedFoolishness! Like this: Before @TaranaBurke's #TJ talk at #MSU that Xhercis organized.
