Welcome Class of #BGSU2024! Just a heads up, H2O church is not LGBTQ affirming. They will disagree, but they do not allow openly queer people to serve as leaders and refuse to use preferred pronouns for trans individuals. Just wanted to share and save y’all some heartbreak. 😊🧡
Also!! H2o doesn’t believe that women are biblically equal to men.

Women are not allowed to be pastors or even preach on Sunday mornings!!
I left H2O after being sexually assaulted by a leader there who was known for providing underaged girls alcohol to get closer to them.

He was removed from leadership, but the person who got me a meeting with the pastor just had him in her WEDDING PARTY.
One time, during a lifegroup, an undergrad student stood up and spent the entire lesson talking about his “struggle with homosexuality” and how “satan tempted him, but with prayer he overcame.”
After graduation, students who are particularly involved in H2o are encouraged to go “on staff.”

To do this, they required to raise $30,000+ through friends & family which the church takes and then pays them a portion of it as their “salary.”
That’s right. To work for a homophobic, sexist, abuse-allowing organization that is an official @BGSU student organization, these recent grads have to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the church.
So what can you do??

When you pass by their free snow cones, mention to your friends:

“Oof. I heard they were super homophobic.”

“Yikes. I bet gender equality tastes better.”

“Sorry. I believe trans women are women.”
And if you have stories like these...

SPEAK UP!!

DM me and I will HAPPILY spill the tea anonymously.

These H2o students become adults.

A teacher who believes you can pray the gay away.

A social worker taught that a woman’s role is to be an obedient wife.

A nurse who is transphobic.

A police officer who, “has heard rumors about his buddy, but seems decent to me.”
Another thing about H2o??? Unpaid internships that ask WAY TOO MUCH of college students.

H2o students are taught that “Paul was a support-raiser” and therefore being paid for your work is unnecessary if you do it for Jesus.🥺✨
H2O’s response to this is that they are a college church, and therefore do not receive enough tithes to pay people appropriately. Staff or interns.

They are exploiting young people with promises of working for free being “God’s Plan” for their life.
Students derail their entire life or drop out (yeah, really) to work for H2o, CRU, YoungLife, etc. because these predatory ministries feed into the narrative that doing work in the secular world is less worthy and fulfilling than working for ✨Jesus✨for free.
“I went to ~one~ life group at H2o and they started talking about how women are meant to be led and we men are the leaders” -🔵
Not only does H2o harm @bgsu students, but they have spread their ministries to @KentState @OhioState @uofcincy @UToledo @uakron @wrightstate @WesternMichU @IndianaUniv
“I know someone who was in the band for H2O and they got kicked out after they found out he had premarital sex so he left the church after that” -🌻
“I was asked to be a small group leader for them and they walked me through their "secondary doctrine" which I was told was not publicly available information and that I didnt have to ~agree~ with everything to be a leader....

cont.
...but if asked about any of the topics by people in my small group I had to share their views and not my own. This included the views you mentioned about women in leadership positions and anti queer views.” -👒
“My roommates/best friends at the time started getting more involved in H2O. Shortly after one told me they wouldn’t live with me anymore after that year because I was Jewish and wasn’t a part of their community... cont. #Antisemitism @Pres_Rogers @h2ochurchbg @bgsu
The rest of the school year they continued to act as if their life had more value than mine due to the influence of H2O. They’d have members over without notification. One even told me I would go to hell since I didn’t believe in Jesus.“
“i was involved in lifegroup for a little while first semester and repeatedly was told men lead the women, women are not to hold the same positions as men and was encouraged to break up with my boyfriend bc he didn’t grow up in the church and couldn’t “lead me in a way godly way”
@h2ochurchbg doesn’t like when women know things. It takes away from men being able to teach. #h2no
I am being flooded with messages about H2o, CRU, and YoungLife.

Thank you!!

I’ll have a petition for @bgsu soon to make sure their student orgs are 😎🏳️‍🌈 while also protecting religion & speech (public funding and all🤓).

For now, keep the stories coming in my DMs or @ #h2no
“YoungLife at @UToledo: They were super anti-greek and isolated ppl who were in it. My roommate was hella judgmental and an LGBTQ “ally” but in a way that she wanted to get as many queer kids as possible to come to club so she can show them that god loves them despite their sin”
“I interned with h2o for two years. I recorded a guy who said that he thought he was gay but it was just the devil and “now he’s not”. It was sickening. I needed the internship and I was too far in it to quit. I’m turned off from church AND my work because they ruined it for me.”
“My little is queer and I was told they would be welcomed with open arms but they spoke with Pastor Rob at H2o and basically he tried to convince them that they were wrong for being queer.”
“As an intern, I had to sign a covenant saying I wouldn’t drink, smoke, or have sex/sleep in a room with the opposite sex. I did all of those the that same day. I really just thought it was an internship and they made me sign it after BGSU approved the credits & I paid for it.”
“I shared my intern experience with the my professor and explained how It was a trick and we were blind sided with the covenant part and how unprofessional they are and now my program at BGSU doesn’t allow h2o to have our interns.”
@BGSUResLife Doesn’t allow bgvotes to enter the dorms to register voters, but H2o can freely evangelize?
BGSU students are being evangelized to from their RA’s. Hear that @BGSUResLife?
