[THREAD FOR BLACK MEN] I finally listened to Megan Thee Stallion's live video of her explaining the night Tory Lanez shot her. It was heartbreaking and painful to hear, particularly because she made it as a result of people saying she was lying. This happens to Black women often.
The other week, I made a thread explaining why many Black men *incorrectly* believe we're the most oppressed. We are not. Trust me. You know that, too.
Part of that is because we ignore our own patriarchal violence and other parts is because we don't even take Black women into consideration as much as we think. Yes, that even goes for us who believe we are in active solidarity with them.
- "Even though he shot me, I tried to spare him. And y'all muthafuckas are not saving me. That's fucked up."

- "He's not in jail because I didn't tell the laws what happened as soon as it happened -- and I should have. I'm smart. I didn't have to spare that nigga."
"Stop fucking acting like Black women is the muthafuckin' problem. Stop acting like Black women is aggressive when all they be doing is speaking muthafuckin' facts and you can't handle it."
This story is every Black woman's story. Protecting us, saving us, housing us, marching for us, not snitching. Just for us to not do the same. Just for us to call them our "queens" only when they protect us. Just for them to be told they are lying about things they know are true.
Can you imagine how it must feel to keep a violent situation private not only because you are worried about yourself, but because you know the police are inherently violent and may kill you and the person who did YOU harm?
Can you imagine how it must feel to be shot by someone you thought was your friend just for people to question what YOU did wrong to be shot?
Can you imagine how it must feel to risk your own life just to keep society from speaking negatively about Black men because you know you'll be told you didn't do enough?
This is why my deference is to Black women.

I've personally seen Black men go out their way to talk about Meg's size in comparison to Tory and portray her as angry, abusive, and violence as if he shot her in self-defense. We can't even be honest with ourselves.
I know Black women are tired.

I want to write about how we treated Keke Palmer, who raised allegations against Trey Songz re: sexual intimidation, & how she was dragged through the mud. But two white women say the same thing and many are trying to put his head on a stick.
This is why i just want us to be honest about how we, as a society, hate Black women. Hatred also looks like ignoring their pain. At least that's honest. At least we can start from a place of honesty and not some fake ass concern about protecting them.
So don't talk to me about how Black men are the most oppressed if we are only concerned w/how police violence (& viral videos) impact us.

Then again, I'm a queer Black man who is fucked up like so many of us. So maybe you will ignore this.

But Dear God, consider this a call in.
